Class update January 2024

Welcome to the new edition of the class update. This is effective from January 2024.

Current classes

We currently have 3 regular classes running in Tunbridge Wells. Classes run throughout the year with breaks for Easter and Christmas. Please note that classes may be cancelled at short notice due extreme weather conditions.

All classes are suitable for beginners and intermediate level students.

The schedule from Janaury 2024.

If you're interested in joining these classes, please let me which class you wish to attend. In order to guarentee your place, payment of fees will need to be paid in advance.

Spaces are limited and in order to give students enough space, there will be a maximum of 12 per class. Due to issues of no-shows, fees are required to be paid in advance. The fee is £20 for 4 lessons, or £7 for a single lesson*. I feel this would be fairer to those who do want to learn. Payment of fees are to be made by BACs.

St. Luke's Tunbridge Wells

We intriduced a Qigong class in last spring and we've had plans to branch out into Qigong for a while. Whilst we do include Qigong in my other classes. We don't have enough time for everything. So it would be nice to have a class to enjoy just Qigong on its own. We will explore various concepts that are both practical and meaningful.

There is parking at the church. Please be considerate, as this is a residential area.

Hawkenbury United Reformed Church

Classes at Hawkenbury United Reformed Church all year round. Classes will be in the large hall. The earlier class from 6.30pm is suitable for beginners and intermediate students. The later class is for for experienced students only. Due to the practical nature, martial arts insurance is required.

There is parking nearby, if you're driving. Please be considerate, as this is a residential area

Tai Chi in the Park @Dunorlan Park

For those who enjoy training outdoors, we have a regular class on the Terrace at Dunorlan Park. This class is suitable for beginners and intermediate level students. I have set up a Facebook group page and updates regarding Tai Chi in the Park will be posted there. If it rains, we will meet in the space under the cafe.

* From 16/10/23, parking fees have been introduced. These apply to both car parks (Pembury Road and Halls Hole Road). The fee is £1 for 1 hour and £2 for 2 hours etc. Understandably, this may put students off and there does seem to be a drop in park users. The decision is not popular with regular park users. There has been no proper consultation and local resident's opinions are not being heard. Hopefully, this will change.

Do you teach courses?

This is a question I get asked a lot. The answer is, no I don't. From experience and from observations. Tai Chi and Qigong don't lend themselves well in a course setting. Tai Chi is a very sophisticated art and it would be difficult to learn and digest in a set amount of time. Then there is the question of your schedule and whether you can make time to commit to this course. If you miss out on a few sessions, then you feel you're left behind. Also, you might want to ask yourself if a course provides value for money? At White Horse Tai Chi, we prefer a relaxed approach, where students come and learn at their own pace.

Private tuition

I do offer private tuition and if you're interested, please contact me regarding availability and let me know what you'd like to learn. Fees will need to be paid in advance and are not refundable due to late cancellations.
