Class update September 2022
We're coming up to autumn and the year has gone by so quickly. Here's the updated class schedule that's effective from September 2022 to May 2023. Please note that classes may be cancelled at short notice due extreme weather conditions.
What are the classes like?
Over the years, we've built up a friendly and enthusiastic group of students. Many have benefitted from attending classes and have even taken their practice and understanding of Tai Chi further. The classes are informal and the aim is to make learning fun and accessible. In order to maintain quality and safety, there is a cap on the maximum of 10 students per class.
On the subject of accessibility, there won't be a fee increases until 01/01/24 for my current classes.
Do you teach courses?
This is a question I get asked a lot. The answer is, no I don't. From experience and from observations. Tai Chi and Qigong don't lend themselves well in a course setting. Tai Chi is a very sophisticated art and it would be difficult to learn and digest in a set amount of time. Then there is the question of your schedule and whether you can make time to commit to this course. If you miss out on a few sessions, then you feel you're left behind. Also, you might want to ask yourself if a course provides value for money? At White Horse Tai Chi, we prefer a relaxed approach, where students come and learn at their own pace.
The timetable will be from September 2022 to May 2023.
Hawkenbury United Reformed Church
Classes at Hawkenbury United Reformed Church all year round. Classes will be in the large hall and both classes are suitable for beginners to intermediate.
If you're interested in joining these classes, please let me which session you wish to attend. In order to give students enough space, there will be a maximum of 12 per class, . Due to issues of non-attendance, fees are required to be paid in advance. The fee is £20 for 4 lessons, or £7 for a single lesson*. I feel this would be fairer to those who do want to learn. I'm unsure as to what restriction may be in place in the near future and this class may close on short notice**.
There is parking nearby, if you're driving. Please be considerate, as this is a residential area.
Tai Chi in the Park @Dunorlan Park
Saturday classes at Dunorlan Park will continue all year round. From September to May, there will only be one class. Private lessons are available on request. During summer, I offered Phoenix Qigong on Thursday evenings. However, this is available on special request. Nobody else in West Kent is offering this style of Qigong.
Saturday
10.30am - 11.30am - Beginners & mixed ability
11.00 am - 12.00pm - Private class
If you are interested in joining me, please feel free to contact me in advance. The fee is £5 per class. Payable on the day or in advance*. The group is currently for beginners and intermediate level students. I have set up a Facebook group page and updates regarding Tai Chi in the Park will be posted there. If it rains, we will meet in the space under the cafe.
I am usually in the Dunorlan Park on weekends, so please feel free to come along for a chat.
A portion of the takings will be donated to the Dunorlan Park Seed Bank. This was something my late teacher did and I will carry on with this tradition.
