Merry Christmas and onwards to 2023
It's that time of the year again. After two years of pandemic lockdowns (on and off). By now, we might have thought that things will go back to normal. That would have been nice, but it was not the case. Flying abroad was not easy, thanks to pandemic measures and Brexit. And now, we have various strikes. We had a very hot dry summer, a wet Autumn and now a freezing winter.
It seems like a real nightmare, but I'm an optimist and without riding out the storm, you will never see the sun. Things will get better. Rather than moan about it, treat the experiences of the past 3 years as a lesson. Daoism teaches us that nothing stays the same and we must embrace change. That's easy to say, but in reality, it can be a bitter pill. The reality is that life has not been easy. I see it has a lesson and an opportunity to adapt. We often take many things for granted and perhaps we need to embraces changes. It's not just something that happens in the UK, as our European neighbours have had similar issues too. As martial artists, be must endure and eat bitter. If everything was easy or just served on a silver platter, then what we will achieve may mean less.
Thanks to my students who continue to attend class. It is a pleasure as always and hopefully, next year, things will get better. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
